The brief was to create an outcome to provide support to those having experienced grief. I identified an almost universal feeling that there is a lack of support for those in periods of grief, as well as a lack of awareness. These factors are those I aimed to address in my work.

The Problem
There is a stigma around tears and displays vulnerable emotion, even when it comes to grief. A pressure to “be strong”. There is no focus on there being a dedicated space to come together to cry, without the shame or negative connotation that surrounds it. The approach was to utilising community spaces as a means of encouraging emotion through our ‘Tears On’ campaign.
The Solution
This approach of using existing community spaces such as cafes, was beneficial for local residents as well as business owners, as it takes low footfall days as the times for these meetings. Giving local businesses incentive to involve themselves in local grief support. Tissue box designs contain tissues with printed conversational prompts to be used during Tears On Tuesday meetings. Our online site allows shareable material so you can know that your loved ones are weaved within the DNA of the brand.
Let’s Talk Grief
The #TalkingGrief, is to be used alongside our speech frames, with are to be held out in areas of significance to your loved ones, and shared socially. The poster designs feature phrases that came up during my research, and again use collaged images that were collected by those in grief who I spoke to throughout my process.
